Generating data isn't hard. Generating evidence that holds up in court is.
A screenshot, a location or a photo, on their own, are not evidence. For a judge to weigh them they must meet strict requirements —and, where needed, someone has to ratify and defend them before the court. That is GeoNotary's difference.
Behind every report there are more than 15 years of expert-witness experience in forensic IT and financial evidence, with a track record of challenges won.
What makes electronic evidence admissible
The Spanish Civil Procedure Act admits electronic means of evidence (arts. 299.2, 326 and 382-384 LEC), but the court only gives them weight if they meet four conditions:
Lawfulness
The data are obtained without infringing fundamental rights. GeoNotary records with the holder's consent and without accessing third-party data.
Authenticity
It can be shown who generated the evidence and when. External-server eIDAS timestamp + biomechanical verification of the carrier.
Integrity
The evidence has not been altered since its origin. SHA-256 hash and public-blockchain sealing make an inadvertent change impossible.
Chain of custody
Full traceability from capture to report, with no gaps. App Attest (iOS) and Play Integrity (Android) guarantee the origin.
From record to trial: how it is filed and ratified
- 1
Continuous record: The app certifies your presence day by day, automatically, from the moment of installation.
- 2
Expert report: When you need it, an expert produces the opinion that interprets and links the record to you, under arts. 335-352 LEC.
- 3
Filing in the proceedings: The report is submitted as party expert evidence, accompanied by the technical elements that allow independent verification.
- 4
Ratification at trial: If the other party challenges it, the expert appears, ratifies the opinion and answers the cross-examination before the judge.
15 years turning data into evidence
GeoNotary is built by a team with more than 15 years of expert-witness practice in forensic IT, digital evidence and financial expert reporting, with reports filed and ratified before courts across Spain. We don't start from theory: we start from knowing what a court accepts —and what it rejects.
- A mastered legal framework: the Civil Procedure Act, the eIDAS Regulation (EU) 910/2014 and Spain's Law 6/2020 on electronic trust services.
- Evidence designed to withstand cross-examination, not just to exist.
- Independent verification: any expert of the opposing party can check the hash and the sealing.
